The Transparent Door Dilemma
We're starting this blog by oversharing.
One of my most embarrassing moments growing up (believe me, there were a few) was racing my sister back into a hotel restaurant one rare, balmy night. We had left the restaurant through the large, sliding door but, unbeknownst to me, they had sneakily shut it in our absence.
I was running as fast as my ten-year old legs could carry me until I crashed - head first - into the glass door. Like a bird flying at a window. Did anyone in the restaurant notice? Fortunately for me, only all the waiters and customers.
My mother dragged me, red-faced, round every table so they could individually ask me if I was badly hurt, and laugh - not very sympathetically.
It seems I am not alone, though.
One viral video shows a dog eagerly running to greet its owner, only to be abruptly stopped by the glass door. The thud and the dog’s baffled expression had viewers in stitches. It’s a lesson to all: don't clean the glass. Leave it dirty - for safety reasons, of course.

In fact, similar glass incidents happened so often that there is now legislation that states, in critical locations, glass manifestations are required to prevent people walking into glass panes, avoiding accidents and injury.
The Infamous Window Washers
Window cleaners are professionals who climb huge heights to keep our skyscraper windows shining. Some are taking their job even further to make a big difference by dressing up as superheroes to brighten the windows and the days of patients of children's hospitals. (IMAGE BELOW: Fox Baltimore) They are real life heroes.
In one instance, some of the heroes' wires got tangled. Their ridiculously clumsy efforts to untangle themselves while still in character had everyone giggling, proving that even superheroes have bad days.
Painted Window Fails
With envy mounting over the neighbours freshly painted windows, one woman (my sister, but I promised not to divulge that) dug out a paint brush and, with a fierce determination, painted her window frames. It was only once sitting back to admire her handiwork did she wonder if said windows would open normally. Obviously they didn't, meaning she then had to have a very awkward conversation with her oblivious husband. Imagine how that conversation went, "Darling I may have painted our windows shut..." Epic fail!
The Convertible (Window) Surprise
Convertible + cars = cool... until something goes horribly wrong. One amusing tale involves a convertible car owner who decided to put the roof down on a sunny day, (wait for it) only to have the rear window fall out completely. Imagine the sight of a car driving down the street with a missing back window and a very confused driver desperately trying to figure out what happened. Yes, bystanders were in hysterics. The lesson? Always check that everything is secure before hitting the road in style.
The Frozen Window Fiasco
Winter brings its own set of window problems, particularly the dreaded frozen-shut window. One viral clip portrays a man trying to de-ice his car windows with hot water, a classic but very relatable mistake. We've all done it! As soon as the hot water collided with the cold glass, the window cracked with a dramatic pop. His shocked expression and the realisation of what he had just done made for a perfect internet sensation.

Final Thoughts on our Window Fails
Windows, those silent and commonly overlooked parts of our homes and workplaces, can sometimes provide the most unexpected humour. From too-clean glass panes to a painting nightmare, these transparent surfaces offer us a glimpse not just of the outside world, but also of the lighter side of life.
